Twenty millimetres isn’t a range
The Pocket 4 gives me a 20mm view and nothing else. Every shot is me at arm’s length in front of whatever I’m talking about. The Luna Ultra puts a 60mm telephoto beside the wide, so a tighter frame comes with background compression instead of a crop.
The screen comes off and becomes the monitor
Filming myself today means setting the camera down, walking into frame and hoping. The Luna Ultra’s front plate pulls away and works as a remote with the picture on it and a mic in it, up to twenty metres out. Which means I can see the shot before I walk into it.
It holds up after dark
A 1″ sensor behind an f/1.8 lens, 10-bit I-Log, and a low-light mode reviewers rate above my phone. Most of what I want to film happens in the evening, which is when a phone gives up and the footage starts looking like a phone.

DJI Osmo Pocket 4, if pocketable beats reach. It’s smaller, it holds twice as much footage, and it never asks you to think about it.
Insta360 rates the battery at four hours and the remote screen’s range at up to twenty metres; both are manufacturer or reviewer figures, not something I’ve tested on an actual evening shoot.

Is the telephoto lens worth giving up the Pocket 4’s bigger built-in storage?
Yes, because cropping is the thing that bothers me every time I film. 47GB is a steep drop from the Pocket 4’s 107GB though, so if you shoot long and rarely offload it will sting.
Is four hours of rated battery enough for a full day of filming?
Not on its own, no, but most of my shooting is short bursts through a day rather than one continuous session, and Insta360’s figure is a lab rating I haven’t tested myself. I’d still want a spare battery in the bag for anything longer.
Does the detachable screen hold up as a handheld remote?
I haven’t used one, so this is reviewer accounts rather than my own hands. They describe it as stable within about twenty metres in a clean environment, less in a crowded one, and it’s the thing I most want to test myself.
